Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming community which is situated on the West Island, which is part of the Montreal island. For those who don't know, the West Island generally believe that it's an separate island off the coast of Montreal However, in reality there is a lot more to it. West Island is home to all things from Lachine west to the town of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time was not long in the city. Brugel was raised in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. She had a dream to become a professional dancer but because of a huge expansion, she outgrew every one of her dance friends. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed that, in her heels, she stood six feet and one inch tall. Once I outgrew male partners I quit. For Brugel, it was the encouragement of a drama teacher from her high school that inspired her to pursue acting. It was her teacher who encouraged her to try out for the role of Anne in their annual school production. She was the teacher who suggested that she take on a part in the school's annual production. It led to an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program which she graduated with an Associate of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years that followed, Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions across the small and big screens attracting the most attention after she landed the character of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel is the only Canadian actor in the season 1 and was only seen in a few episodes.
